Read about Grind Types

We have recently adjusted our grind options. With that in mind, we wanted to offer this primer so that you can choose the best grind-style for your preferred brewing method.

Whole Bean-- While we are happy to grind your beans, your coffee will stay fresher longer if you grind it as you go. There are many great home grinder options out there and many are surprisingly inexpensive.

Drip-- This is a medium grind that is the most versatile. Brewing methods using drip include home coffee drip machines, pour-overs (like Hario), Chemex, and AeroPress.

Espresso-- This grind is generally used for espresso makers. This includes home machines and stove-tip espresso pots. The grind is the most fine and is optimized to work with a high pressure extraction system.

Coarse-- Coarse is for percolators, french press, cold brewing, and sometimes AeroPress. Coarse is the biggest/loosest grind and enables water to move more freely steeping coffee for extraction.

All of the above, while generally true in the industry, also should be adjusted for preference. Feel free to experiment and please contact us if you have questions and we will be happy to work with you.

Product Overview

"Benevolent: adjective: well meaning and kindly." We are convinced that we could all use a little more benevolence in our lives.

This coffee is a nod to our own capacity to create kindness - in others' lives and in our own. Some of the most benevolent actors in the specialty coffee world are the men and women who grow and harvest this coffee. They are benevolent not only in how they tend to their plants and prepare and sort coffee to sell to us, but they are also benevolent in how they treat fellow members of their cooperative. It is a blend of fair trade, organic, shade-grown, light-bodied coffees from Central and South America and Sumatra, Indonesia with a sweet, fruity fragrance, a fresh, sweet aftertaste, and a gentle, slightly tart acidity.

Available in a variety of grind options.

    Wonderful Coffee

Ive been ordering Benevolent Blend for over 10 years now. Absolutely my favorite coffee and we get many compliments when we serve it to guests. Just like it’s name, “Benevolent,” it’s smooth and relaxing!

Our new favorite - better than ST*****KS

Posted by John on Nov 21st 2017

Found this coffee in a hospital cafeteria, of all places! It's quite a nice cafeteria and the coffee did not disappoint. I am very glad they had an emblem on the carafe stating what was being served. I drink my coffee black and was sold on it on the the first cup. Took another cup up to my family member who was hospitalized and the amazement continued. We order it from Cafe Campesino 5 pounds at the time. If you like a smooth medium coffee, this is the one. Waste no time!

    My New Favorite Coffee

I have gone through five one pound bags of the Benevolent blend and it is consistently better than any other bean in my pantry. I highly recommend to my friends and family to give it a try.

    A really good everyday blend

This marks my 3rd order of benevolent blend online, and I've also picked up some at our local market that carries CC. We really love this coffee. We've tried pricier blends locally and online, and this one stands out as consistently fresh and delicious. My wife likes a more traditional cup of coffee, as opposed to the fruitier African single origins, and this hits that mark.
