Read about Grind Types

We have recently adjusted our grind options. With that in mind, we wanted to offer this primer so that you can choose the best grind-style for your preferred brewing method.

Whole Bean-- While we are happy to grind your beans, your coffee will stay fresher longer if you grind it as you go. There are many great home grinder options out there and many are surprisingly inexpensive.

Drip-- This is a medium grind that is the most versatile. Brewing methods using drip include home coffee drip machines, pour-overs (like Hario), Chemex, and AeroPress.

Espresso-- This grind is generally used for espresso makers. This includes home machines and stove-tip espresso pots. The grind is the most fine and is optimized to work with a high pressure extraction system.

Coarse-- Coarse is for percolators, french press, cold brewing, and sometimes AeroPress. Coarse is the biggest/loosest grind and enables water to move more freely steeping coffee for extraction.

All of the above, while generally true in the industry, also should be adjusted for preference. Feel free to experiment and please contact us if you have questions and we will be happy to work with you.

    Matys Blend Full City Roast

Posted by Piper Mohl on Oct 24th 2023

I have received this coffee as a gift several times. It is the best coffee I have ever tasted. We decided that it was pointless to waste money trying different coffee and signed up for a subscription.

This is one of my daily coffee blends. It is smooth and, dare I say, chuggable.

    My favorite daily cup

Maty's Blend is a delicious, rich cup with a hint of sweetness. It is a good replacement for the now-discontinued Mondo Kawan that I loved for many years.

    A nice balanced cup

Posted by AvatarDad on Oct 1st 2017

This is one of my "go to" coffees at CC; after checking for what is new I nearly always order a bag of this and a bag of "Justice", and maybe a couple bags of single origins to try out. (You can't go wrong no matter what you pick). Maty's blend is a nice City+/Full City roast with cocoa and mild citrus hints. One of the reviewers said it was a little "plain" and that's not unfair, although I don't think every coffee has to yell its origin. A nice, calm, balanced cup is just what I want some days. This is a terrific every day coffee, but is also a good choice for company. They will all ask "hey... what's this? It is great!" Compliments to the host; you did a good job picking a crowd-pleasing coffee everyone will love.

A bit disappointed this time around

Posted by Unknown on Sep 17th 2016

Usually stick with single origin coffees but had tried this blend some time ago & thought it was good so thought I would give it another try. It isn't bad coffee but just not a very pronounced flavor to make you want to order again.
