We have recently adjusted our grind options. With that in mind, we wanted to offer this primer so that you can choose the best grind-style for your preferred brewing method.

Whole Bean-- While we are happy to grind your beans, your coffee will stay fresher longer if you grind it as you go. There are many great home grinder options out there and many are surprisingly inexpensive.

Drip-- This is a medium grind that is the most versatile. Brewing methods using drip include home coffee drip machines, pour-overs (like Hario), Chemex, and AeroPress.

Espresso-- This grind is generally used for espresso makers. This includes home machines and stove-tip espresso pots. The grind is the most fine and is optimized to work with a high pressure extraction system.

Coarse-- Coarse is for percolators, french press, cold brewing, and sometimes AeroPress. Coarse is the biggest/loosest grind and enables water to move more freely steeping coffee for extraction.

All of the above, while generally true in the industry, also should be adjusted for preference. Feel free to experiment and please contact us if you have questions and we will be happy to work with you.

Product Overview

Las Diosas is an incredible all-female coffee farming cooperative made up of four smaller primary level cooperatives in Northern Nicaragua representing over 360 women. The co-op is affiliated with Fundacion Entre Mujeres (FEM), one of the most respected women's empowerment organizations in Nicaragua. FEM promotes participation in the economic and social development of rural women in the Department of Estelí, through productive projects, education, technical advice, women's health, workshops on gender awareness, which work towards the improvement of the situation of women in their area. Las Diosas, based in the town of Esteli, not only grows coffee for export, they also produce honey, Jamaica wine and tea, and roasted coffee to sell in local markets. The women have been trained in agroecological farming practices that not only satisfy organic certification, but also go beyond to focus on the health of the soil, other plants, the water, and the entire environment in their communities. Survivors of many hardships in the past ten years including earthquakes, landslides, drought, plant disease, and hurricanes, the women of Las Diosas are fearless, resilient, and persistent in their work.

    New Orleans residents, this is my husband's new coffee! My husband loves dark roast, so I bought this flavor for him to try. He absolutely loves it! I've already purchased a second bag for him!

    We drank Community Coffee Dark Roast from Baton Rouge, LA, for years (we had a standard mail order of 10 lbs every six weeks or so), but now wish to drink only organic , fair trade coffee, which they do not offer. We have tried 6 different organic coffee so far and the Nicaragua French Roast has been the best as far as flavor, after taste, and satisfaction. We continue to try others in our search, but we think we have found the one to replace our favorite CC Dark Roast. Thank you.
