Sometimes we all need to harness the Mad Poet within– the creative, daring, “think-outside-of-the-box” side that keeps life fun and might even provoke a little introspection and self-growth. This blend was originally conceived by one of our regular coffeehouse customers who embodied the “Mad Poet” spirit– a personality type we’ve come to adore at Café Campesino and one that, in many ways, encapsulates our dream to make specialty coffee fair for small-scale farmers. A blend of African, Central American and Indonesian coffees, Mad Poet is full-bodied with a roast profile that brings a little heft but still allows for bright African acidities. It’s a great way to start your day.
Available in a variety of grind options.
Aroma: | Cocoa powder, citrusy |
Body: | Light-to-medium |
Flavor: | Citrusy, earthy, smoky |
Acidity: | Low-to-Medium |
Roast Level: | Viennese |
Grind Types
Whole Bean-- While we are happy to grind your beans, your coffee will stay fresher longer if you grind it as you go. There are many great home grinder options out there and many are surprisingly inexpensive.
Drip-- This is a medium grind that is the most versatile. Brewing methods using drip include home coffee drip machines, pour-overs (like Hario), Chemex, and AeroPress.
Espresso-- This grind is generally used for espresso makers. This includes home machines and stove-tip espresso pots. The grind is the most fine and is optimized to work with a high pressure extraction system.
Coarse-- Coarse is for percolators, french press, cold brewing, and sometimes AeroPress. Coarse is the biggest/loosest grind and enables water to move more freely steeping coffee for extraction.
All of the above, while generally true in the industry, also should be adjusted for preference. Feel free to experiment and please contact us if you have questions and we will be happy to work with you.

5 Mad Poet is Madly Delicious
Posted by Kyle G on Oct 10th 2022
This is our favorite blend and our favorite coffee, period! I think it's changed our palate forever. Full of flavor, well balanced, managed acidity, yet smooth, earthy and delicious, this is the perfectly aged "Cab Sav" equivalent in the coffee world. Cheers.

5 Mad Poet Blend

This is so good. Just short of a dark roast. Smell and taste is so good. Aroma releases when grinding it, then it adds to that when brewing. Helps me get going in the morning, which is a big accomplishment.

5 Mad Poet Blend

I bought this because the name of the blend spoke to me! It is delicious! We used half of the beans kind of quickly and I sent the rest home with our son who is a little bit of a mad poet. We are very pleased with our Cafe Campesino experience.

The Mad Poet Blend Viennese Roast is simply delicious! Our order arrived very quickly and the customer service was outstanding. The beans (we chose the whole bean in foil option) are so fresh and fragrant - we cannot wait to try more roasts from Cafe Campesino!
