In 1995, Aurora Izquierdo became the first indigenous woman of the Arhuaco tribe to leave home for a university education. She came back and founded ASOANEI — a cooperative built on the principle of “respect and harmony for Mother Earth,” and on the conviction that the people who grow the coffee should benefit from it.
