Read about Grind Types

We have recently adjusted our grind options. With that in mind, we wanted to offer this primer so that you can choose the best grind-style for your preferred brewing method.

Whole Bean-- While we are happy to grind your beans, your coffee will stay fresher longer if you grind it as you go. There are many great home grinder options out there and many are surprisingly inexpensive.

Drip-- This is a medium grind that is the most versatile. Brewing methods using drip include home coffee drip machines, pour-overs (like Hario), Chemex, and AeroPress.

Espresso-- This grind is generally used for espresso makers. This includes home machines and stove-tip espresso pots. The grind is the most fine and is optimized to work with a high pressure extraction system.

Coarse-- Coarse is for percolators, french press, cold brewing, and sometimes AeroPress. Coarse is the biggest/loosest grind and enables water to move more freely steeping coffee for extraction.

All of the above, while generally true in the industry, also should be adjusted for preference. Feel free to experiment and please contact us if you have questions and we will be happy to work with you.

    Only the Best!

Posted by Kelsey Hughes on Nov 5th 2023

I lived in Cullowhee and drive to work in Cashiers when I went to WCU. I am a huge coffee snob. What I would do to get a bucks coffee on the daily again. When I moved got the coast it is the only thing I miss about the Smokies. Now I make my bucks coffee at home. It is my favorite! Not the same as in house but enough to make my heart happy. All my friends and family love it! I am getting married in August. You bet your girl is bringing her beans with her!

This coffee was really enjoyable. I used espresso and the taste was awesome. Chocolate notes with a smooth finish.

    Increrdibly smooth

Posted by annita on Feb 12th 2022

Unbelievably smooth. The only reason i gave it 4 staars is because smooth is not my thing, I love harsh bitter coffee, and there is no hint of that here at all. That being said, i really like it. It was a delightful change of pace to my usual. Would more than likely get it again because it is lovely. Just not my everyday thing.

We visit Buck’s daily while on vacation each year. Thrilled to see I could order the coffee online and enjoy back home,

    Buck’s Backbone

This is my favorite coffee ever! It is bold and soft at the same time. I’ve bought it for myself and family members seeking a good brew. It is also served at one of our favorite coffee shops. (Where I first discovered it).

we like to have a couple cups of coffee each in a.m. and that it is for the day. Buck's Backbone works equally well for my drip and the pour over I make for my husband each morning- lovely,,,, and yes, I do spoil him :)
