Sumatra Viennese offers an earthy, sweet cup with a medium-to-full body and low-to-medium acidity. We give this single-origin coffee a Viennese Roast (meaning “medium-dark”) that leaves the beans coated in a sheen of natural oils and then ship them out fresh to you. For lovers of dark coffees, we also make a Sumatra French Roast.
Available in a variety of grind options.
Co-op Profile: Kokowagayo
This coffee is produced by Kokowagayo, an all-female farmer cooperative that was formed in 2014 in an effort to empower women farmers living in the Aceh province of the northwestern island of Sumatra. The Kokowagayo cooperative consists of 422 members, all of whom farm organically. Through the cooperative, the women have worked to increase their incomes, improve their business acumen and develop a better quality of life for themselves and their families.
Kokowagayo, alongside partner cooperative Permata Gayo, is working to mitigate the impacts of climate change on their coffee crops. The co-ops are planting revenue-generating overstory trees such as avocado, durian and orange that will create moisture-rich microclimates and help prevent erosion. They are also working to improve soil health, as well as cultivating coffee varieties such as: Tim-Tim, Catimor and Bourbon, which have proven to be pest-and-disease-resistant in Sumatra.
Strong flavor, no bitter aftertaste. Delicious. I rated it 4 of 5 only because I haven't compared it to any of the other coffees yet (it's just a world above the very sad coffee I had been drinking).

Our Favorite Cafe Campesino Coffee
We've been ordering Café Campesino coffee for years and have tried several different ones. We always came back to the Sumatra, even when the roast changed. It's the best part of getting up in the morning.
